Information for international rowers:
On Sunday, the 27th of November 2016 The Hel van het Noorden (Hell of the North) will be organised for the 39th time by the student rowing club G.S.R. ‘Aegir’. The Hel van het Noorden is an annual event that takes place on the Eemskanaal in Groningen. It is a six kilometer head race for a single scull and coxless pair. Since the race is held at the end of November, the possible frost, rain, and wind will make this race, like some rowers call it, a ‘Hell’.
The Hel van het Noorden is an unique rowing experience, as you battle against the elements of the winter season and strong competition. Several Olympic and World Cup rowers have successfully completed the race in previous years. The organisation tries to provide some compensation in accommodation costs for international rowers.
You can now sign up for the race. Make sure you do this before the 13th of November. If you have questions and in order to register, please contact our race coordinator Erik Groothuizen. You can contact him by sending an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Make sure you register in time, to avoid possible delays. The draw (in Dutch ‘loting’) will be published as quickly as possible after Monday the 14th. For more information regarding the Hel van het Noorden, please feel free to send an e-mail to email@example.com.
We hope to see you on the 27th of November!
